  MISSIONARY SPEAKER
  
  The mission appeal at Saint Patrick's this summer will be on August 13th. The missionary coming to tell you about his diocese is Father Jose Puthenparambil from India. He is from the poorest Catholic diocese in Kerala - the state in which most of the Catholics of India live. Because of the severe poverty, it is a big challenge for the diocese to help their people because most of the people are in need of material help also. Because the government will not give any benefits to poor Christians, the diocese also has to  help the people with housing, food, clothing, medicine and education. These poor people live at the periphery of society - they are the former low caste Hindus and untouchables who have converted to Catholicism. Your help is very much needed for these poor people. A second collection will be taken. Please make checks payable to Saint Patrick’s Church and write “Mission Appeal” on the memo line. Donations can be brought to the church before or after the mission weekend. Thank you for your support and generosity!

  RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
  
  As part of a Community Caring for Life our Church of Saint Patrick ~ 1085 DeSoto Street in Saint Paul ~ will be partnering with the North Central Blood Services of the American Red Cross to host our third blood drive of the year on Monday, August the 14th from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. downstairs here in the Church Hall. Donors who have not donated whole blood after June 19, 2017 would be eligible. To donate blood you must be 17 years of age or older (donors age 16 may donate with parental consent) must weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health.
